This Privacy Policy explains how FREE VPN SERVICES LIMITED ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and shares information when you use the DMV Practice Test & Tracker mobile application (the "App").
Data controller: FREE VPN SERVICES LIMITED, 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. Contact: hello@freevpnservices.uk
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information stored only on your device
The following information you enter in the App is stored locally on your device and is not sent to our servers:
- License type you are studying for (e.g. car, motorcycle)
- Date of birth (used only to show driving-age eligibility information)
- Planned exam date
- Nickname and profile picture (if you choose to add a photo from your camera or photo library)
- Lesson progress, practice test results and statistics
- App language and exam language preferences
Deleting the App removes this information from your device.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Anonymous account identifier. When you open the App, we create an anonymous account (via Firebase Authentication) and a random app user identifier. We do not ask for your name, email address or phone number.
- Device and app information. App version, operating system, device model, language, and similar technical data.
- Push notification token. If you allow notifications, we store your device's notification token to send you study reminders and service messages. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.
- Usage and diagnostics data. Information about how you use the App (e.g. screens viewed, features used) and crash reports, used to improve stability and performance.
- App integrity data. We use Firebase App Check to verify that requests come from a genuine copy of the App.
1.3 Purchase information
If you buy a subscription, the purchase is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not receive your payment card details. We receive transaction information (product purchased, transaction identifier, purchase and expiry dates, subscription status) so we can unlock premium features and keep your subscription status up to date.
1.4 Advertising attribution
If you installed the App after tapping one of our ads (for example on Facebook or Instagram), we use an attribution service to determine which ad campaign led to the install. To do this, information such as your app user identifier, IP address, and basic device characteristics (e.g. screen size) may be matched with ad click information. We use this only to measure the effectiveness of our marketing. We do not sell your personal information.
2. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- provide the App and its features, and remember your preferences;
- verify purchases and provide access to premium content;
- send notifications you have agreed to receive;
- keep the App secure and prevent fraud and abuse;
- analyse usage, fix bugs and improve the App;
- measure the performance of our advertising.
Legal bases (UK GDPR / EU GDPR): performance of our contract with you (providing the App and subscriptions), our legitimate interests (security, improving the App, measuring marketing), your consent (push notifications; you can withdraw it at any time), and compliance with legal obligations.
3. Service providers we share information with
We share information only with service providers that help us operate the App, under contracts that require them to protect it:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Google Firebase (Authentication, Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging, Remote Config, App Check) | Anonymous sign-in, analytics, crash reporting, notifications, configuration, app integrity |
| Apple App Store / Google Play | Payment processing and subscription management |
| IAPKit (purchase management service) | Verifying purchases and tracking subscription status |
| Ads2App / Web2App (attribution service) | Measuring which ad campaign led to an install |
| Our hosting providers | Running our backend servers that deliver lessons, tests and videos |
We may also disclose information if required by law, or in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
4. International transfers
Our service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area (for example in the United States). Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
5. Data retention
We keep account, purchase and diagnostic information only as long as necessary for the purposes above, or as required by law (for example, tax and accounting records). Information stored only on your device stays there until you delete the App.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To make a request, contact us at hello@freevpnservices.uk. Because we do not ask for your name or email in the App, please include your app user identifier (shown in the App's settings, if available) or details of your purchase so that we can locate your data.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
California residents: we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising as defined by the CCPA/CPRA, other than measuring the performance of our own ads as described above. You may exercise your rights to know, delete and correct by contacting us.
7. Children
The App is intended for people preparing for a driver's license or learner's permit test. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and app integrity checks. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version at this address and change the "Last updated" date. Significant changes will be communicated in the App where appropriate.
